Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions.

Do I need paddle boarding experience?

No. Sessions are suitable for beginners, and no prior paddle boarding experience is required. We’ll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you.

What should I bring?

Please bring swimwear, sunscreen, and water to drink during the session.

Buoyancy aids and wetsuits are provided. If you have your own equipment and would prefer to use it, you’re welcome to bring it along.

What happens if the weather is bad?

Water-based sessions are weather dependent, and your safety always comes first.

If weather conditions are unsuitable due to strong winds, heavy rain, or other safety concerns, sessions may be rescheduled or moved to an alternative land-based session where appropriate.

Where do sessions take place?

Water-based sessions take place at WakeUpDocklands in the Royal Docks, East London.

The nearest transport links are:

  • Royal Victoria – DLR
  • West Silvertown – DLR
  • Custom House – Elizabeth Line

Full meeting details will be shared after booking.

Is the water safe?

Yes. Sessions take place at WakeUp Docklands in the Royal Docks, where the water is regularly monitored and tested for water activities.

The dock is fed by the River Lea and runs through a filtration system to help maintain water quality. It is regularly used for paddle boarding and other water sports.

Your safety and comfort are always prioritised, and sessions only take place when conditions are suitable.

Is this suitable if I feel anxious around water?

This can be discussed before booking. Your comfort and safety are always prioritised, and sessions are adapted to your needs and experience level.

Is paddle board therapy a substitute for traditional therapy?

Water-based therapy offers a unique therapeutic environment, but it may not be suitable for everyone. Together we can explore whether this feels like the right approach for your current needs.

What issues can paddle board therapy help with?

Sessions may support stress, anxiety, burnout, emotional overwhelm, confidence building, life transitions, and reconnecting with yourself.

What if I fall in?

Falling in can happen occasionally, but sessions are designed around calm conditions and safety. We’ll ensure you feel comfortable and prepared before entering the water.
